Hospitaller Trail Running Festival

At the end of October, Nant becomes the stage for one of France's must-attend trail running events: the Hospitaliers Trail Festival. Established in 2009, this renowned event brings together thousands of runners and trail enthusiasts eager to take on a sporting challenge in the breathtaking landscapes of southern Aveyron. Technical trails, narrow single tracks, forests, limestone plateaus, picturesque villages, and spectacular panoramic views follow one another throughout the races, making this festival a true benchmark for lovers of authentic trail running.

The event offers several race formats suitable for all abilities. Runners can choose between La Nantaise, an accessible race of around 14 km, the Larzac–Dourbie Trail, covering approximately 30 km, or the legendary Hospitaliers Trail, a demanding race of around 75 km with nearly 4,000 metres of elevation gain, which starts before dawn in the streets of Nant. Trail races for children are also organised, making the festival a truly family-friendly sporting weekend.
Beyond the competition itself, the Hospitaliers Trail Festival is renowned for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, its friendly, community-focused organisation, and its commitment to promoting more sustainable trail running. This spirit of camaraderie is at the heart of the festival and is one of the reasons it is so highly regarded by trail runners year after year.

Templar Trail Running Festival

The Festival des Templiers is widely regarded as the historic birthplace of trail running in France. Every October, on the weekend before the Hospitaliers Trail Festival in Nant, Millau becomes the world's trail running capital, hosting several days of races, events, and celebrations amid the spectacular scenery of the Grands Causses. Over four days, more than 13,000 runners from across France and around the world gather to share their passion in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The trail village, conferences, exhibitors, entertainment, and the wide range of races make this one of the highlights of the international trail running calendar.

The festival offers a wide range of races to suit every level of runner, from the legendary Grand Trail des Templiers, an iconic race of more than 80 km, to shorter and more accessible events, including ultra-trails, marathons, short-distance trail races, hiking events, and races for young participants. Whatever your experience or ambition, everyone can enjoy the unique Templiers experience.
The routes take runners through some of the most spectacular landscapes in southern Aveyron, including the Grands Causses, the Causse Noir, the Larzac Plateau, the Dourbie Gorges, towering limestone cliffs, pine forests, impressive rock formations, and many picturesque villages. This remarkable variety of terrain—combining technical trails, limestone plateaus, and breathtaking scenery—is what has earned the Festival des Templiers its international reputation.
